I witnessed evil as attacker sought to break into Jewish temple, cleric describes

A rabbi has recounted the moment when a person tried to break into his Manchester Jewish temple during a fatal attack, stating "I witnessed evil, I witnessed hatred".

The cleric stated that he and others maintained the gateways of Heaton Park synagogue as the assailant was "ramming the gateways, hurling large plant pots, doing whatever he could to get in".

Praising the swift-response of those at the synagogue, he stated: "I observed true bravery, I must declare, and individuals who ran to aid fellow members rather than running away. It was amazing."

A 53-year-old man, and A 66-year-old man, both died after the assailant hit pedestrians and stabbed a person on the day of the incident.

The spiritual leader mentioned that the incident occurred before the holiday service was in full flow, and later there would have been numerous of attendees in the congregation.

He remarked: "Unless one man in especial hadn't acted as promptly as he managed and secured the entrances locked, we can envision what would have happened."

Describing how the event unfolded, he mentioned a number of worshippers maintained the doors secured from the interior to ensure the intruder could not gain entry.

Eventually after the authorities arrived, rabbi Walker stated two further persons inside the structure were harmed.

One man was fatally shot and a different individual wounded by law enforcement shots, local authorities has confirmed.

A declaration from the department identified the man fatally shot by officers as Mr Daulby.

Talking to media, the spiritual leader said he would do his best to extend support to the relatives of those killed and the broader public.

"Exists fear but there is also backing", he stated.

"I am convinced and wish that we can offer confidence and hope. I am certain very firmly that we must not allow this to beat us".

The government leader and witnesses have applauded the cleric and the security guards as "courageous people" for their deeds.

When questioned if he viewed himself as a courageous individual, he said: "I don't believe that is correct".

Nonetheless, a bystander at the location stated the spiritual leader had stayed composed during as he and additional individuals guided the assembly to safety.

The loved ones of the deceased has also offered praise to their "hero" who died during "the action of courage to protect others".

"The loved ones is shocked by the heartbreaking, unexpected death of such a lovely down to earth man" the tribute added, as the family requested for solitude to process their loss.
