Uche Sparks Comfortable Palace Win at Irish Side Shelbourne.

Despite entering their maiden continental adventure, Crystal Palace are adapting very quickly. Missing star players like striker Jean-Philippe Mateta and wing-back Daniel Muñoz, the London club left Dublin with a commanding result that all but secures them a spot in the Conference League playoffs.

A further victory in their next fixture against Finnish KuPS should be sufficient to seal straight entry to the last 16, particularly after a previous setback against Strasbourg.

Squad Members Grasp the Moment

This match offered a chance for several Palace's fringe players to impress. Christantus Uche, in only his second start after joining on loan from Getafe, opened the scoring with a clinical goal. Striker Eddie Nketiah added a another, scoring for the second game in succession.

The Shelbourne side that had finished their league season were outmatched even for a mostly rotated Palace lineup. The visitors were already weakened by the news that Mateta and Muñoz are out with knee problems.

Dominance Established from the Outset

Despite heavy rain in Dublin, Palace rapidly established dominance. A slick passing sequence in the 11th minute, sparked by Daichi Kamada's incisive pass, allowed Nketiah to lay on Uche for a straightforward tap-in.

Youngster Adam Wharton came close soon after, driving a long-range shot over the bar. Nketiah then claimed for a penalty after racing into the box, but the referee dismissed the protests.

The formerArsenal man didn't need to wait long to get his goal, prodding home from a yard out after Uche's effort had hit the post.

Shelbourne were hanging on desperately. Full-back Kameron Ledwidge was lucky to avoid a booking for a couple of robust tackles on Yeremy Pino, before Chris Richards struck the crossbar with a header from a corner.

The match was as good as over eight minutes before half-time. Yeremy Pino meandered past a series of weak challenges before calmly dispatching a shot past goalkeeper Wessel Speel to extend the lead to 3-0.

Following the break, manager Oliver Glasner seized the opportunity to rest key players like Kamada and Wharton. Substitute Romain Esse came close to scoring his first touch, only to see his shot blocked.

The youngster was incredibly unlucky later on, seeing one shot crash off each posts before being gathered on the line. Uche also missed a glaring chance, showing there is still room for improvement in his game.

A solitary worry for Palace was a late injury to Justin Devenny, who limped off. This allowed 17-year-old forward Benji Casey to make his first-team debut, rounding off an otherwise perfect evening for the traveling side.
